Orange County Kickboxing’s Pre Schooler (Pee Wee) Program was designed specifically to cater to children ages 4-6. As a parent, you know the development of a child at four years of age is vastly different than that of an eight or a ten year old. With that in mind we have created a “Pee Wee” program based on the principles of child psychology with a focus on building character and early motor skill development. The Pee Wee program can help your child to develop self-confidence, discipline and self-esteem, important traits that can have a positive impact on his or her life.
One of our goals as community leaders and role models is to introduce fitness to children at a young age so that it becomes an important and fun part of that child’s life. Our second goal is to ensure the child has fun. We know that to keep a child’s interest the activity must be fun and exciting, so we make it just that!
We will teach your child kickboxing and the martial arts, but more importantly we will help your child to build character, learn to set and accomplish goals and have the ability to achieve things that they may not have known were possible. How is all of this done you may ask? It is all built into the program!
The “STAR System” is built into our Pee Wee program to help your child develop positive character traits. This proven STAR System has 5 parts or “STARS” which are earned based on the child’s behavior both in and outside of the class. For every star that is earned the children are awarded a colored stripe on their belt. If all the stripes are earned they are able to test for their next belt. Belt testing occurs every 12 weeks. The children are graded and rewarded based on the following behaviors and traits.
Overall Behavior (Blue)
The student must behave in class, listen to instructors and respect fellow peers in order to achieve this award.
School Grades (Red)
The student must have a form signed by his or her school teacher and returned by the end of the testing period in order to achieve this award.
Household Responsibilities (Yellow)
The student must accumulate 75 household responsibility points in a testing period in order to receive this award.
Reading (Green)
The student must read 10 books in a testing period and have a form signed by a parent in order to receive this award. Pee Wees who can't read can have a parent or sibling read to them instead.
Technique (Black)
The student must have appropriate knowledge for his or her particular belt level in order to receive this award.
We can’t wait to see you and your child in class!
